It was decided that the name of the Society should be the West Australian Hand Surgery Association.
Fees: it was decided that the following should apply:
Active Membership - $100 per annum.
Associate Membership - $50 per annum.
Affiliate Membership - $25 per annum.Activities - Journal Clubs - four per year.
Journal of Hand Surgery, British and American Editions and any other journals that members wish to discuss.
A roster will be drawn up and for each Journal Club there will be three members who will discuss a Journal each. The first person on the list will act as host at a place designated by him.Clinical Meetings will be held twice a year on Saturday mornings and will be given over to short presentations and case discussions.
Office Bearers - Peter Hales was elected as President and Mark Allison as Secretary.
The secretary will write to the West Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the local chapter of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and the Australian Hand Surgery Society to inform them of our existence.
The secretary will also write to the Department of Taxation to clarify the tax deductibility situation of subscriptions.
The President and Secretary will draw up a roster for the Journal Club and circulate this to members.
There being no business the meeting was closed at 10.55 am.
